Men in countries around the world started growing moustaches Tuesday in what's become an annual tradition: Movember.

The manly initiative is meant to raise awareness and money for men's health issues by growing a moustache for 30 days straight.

Canada seems is very mo-friendly, said Movember founder Adam Garone, who flew from Australia for a late-night launch in Old Montreal.

"Globally we've had 450,000 guys participating, we raised $77 million dollars, and that makes Movember the biggest funder of prostate cancer research and support programs in the world," he said.

Often, a stalled program has gone into what computer scientists call an infinite loop, where it keeps executing a single block of code over and over. At the 25th European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming in Lancaster, England, in July, researchers from MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) presented a new tool that automatically interrupts infinite loops and moves on to the next line of code in the computer program.

The news that Hewlett Packard has just slapped down $2.7 billion to acquire 3Com looks like a move that will be good for the two firms. Both companies' respective products will dovetail nicely to turn HP into what could easily be described as an IT polymath--pretty damn good at everything.

They reveled (indeed, revel still) in the thrill of anarchy (their words) and entertainment. If their actions weren't so damaging, it might be tempting to find them entertaining.

Hackers took control of two prominent Twitter accounts recently, posting false messages to followers of the accounts of FoxNews.com and PayPal UK.

An anonymous hacking group claimed responsibility for the attack on the Fox account. The group posted six false messages on the FoxNews.com account, giving followers a phony news item that U.S. President Barack Obama had been shot dead. The move reportedly prompted an investigation by the Secret Service.

News Corp, acknowledged that the account had been hijacked and removed the false messages. A Fox News spokeswoman said Twitter suspended the account once the account hijacking was detected.
